Board Meeting

Club officers present: Bob Shafer (president), Dave Eggler (treasurer), Marty Mazur (communications director), Marty Klanchar (membership director), Erika Christiansen (secretary/archivist). Others present: Tony Kwasnica, Tara Murray.

The officers listened Tony Kwasnica pitch to the board about having support from the NVRC for the State College Girls Cross Country booster club. There was talk about fundraising for the booster club at road races such as the Turkey Trot in Boalsburg. The NVRC would support the booster with communicating on the list serve. Insurance would need to be provided by the USTAF. Marty Mazur will send all the links to Tony so that he may get the paper work done if it were to be a NVRC supported race.

Membership Meeting

Others present: Tony Kwasinca, Tara Murray, John Iceland, Dave DeGroote , Paula and Tom Jech, Kim Gasper, David Lloyd, Tim Scitti, Monica and Bill Mahoney, Liz and Jim Kisenwether, Cheryl Capone, Doug Shunk.

The Nittany Valley Half marathon was discussed briefly. All comments were extremely good and people joked with Bob Shafer because it was his suggested new route. The two new hills were not a plus but everyone seemed to really enjoy how it was organized from the volunteers, to the water stops, to the helpful bikers, to the police presence – oh and the weather for the first weekend of December was a balmy 48 degrees!

The year has flown by and the officers of the NVRC were asked if they would like to continue with their positions. It was brought to the club if anyone wanted to run for one of the positions they were welcomed. No one responded from the group and luckily the officers all agreed to another year in their positions - here's to 2018!

Marty lead the honoring of Greg Fredericks and Liz Kisenwether with a token of our appreciation. Greg and Liz started the Youth Cross-Country Series meets for kids under high school age close to 20 years ago. Greg and Liz have also been involved in other aspects of local running for much longer than that.
