Minutes of the February 4th meeting of the NVRC
Club officers present: Bob Shafer (president), David Eggler (treasure),Marty Mazur (communications director, Marty Klanchar (membership director), Erika Christiansen (secretary / archivist).
The officers spoke about the ongoing problem with the website calendar not loading. They are working with Jake Clements on how to proceed with addressing and fixing the issue.
The officers listened to Tanya Rasmiller speak on behalf of the GRIT Gravel Bike Race which will be held on June 6th at 9:00 am starting and ending at Tussey Mountain. There is a 25 mile, 49 mile and a 65 mile bike race. They are looking to get 150 female participants. Tanya asked the club officers and the club to help with volunteering for the race as in helping park cars from 6:00 am - 8:00 am, or volunteer at an aide station or simply be out in the forest for a run and be there to help cheer on the bikers or be there if they need any assistance. Marty Klanchar gave a good report on the first two indoor mile series. The attendance was done from last year with only 30 runners total. The club cross country team was the largest in attendance. Saturday will be the third and final indoor mile series of the season. It will include the mile and a 3k with an awards ceremony concluding the event.
Marty Mazur spoke excitedly about the successful turnouts for the 2020 group runs. There are three tiers of groups thus this far; Bob and Zimm’s group which are running at a 7 minute pace, John’s group running at an 8 minute pace and Marty’s group running at a 10 minute pace. David Lloyd expressed interest in starting another group run for a slower paced group, look for that new announcement soon!
Mike Casper spoke about the next Tussey Teaser the Laurel Run Switchback 10K at 10:00 am. There is an open call for this years beneficiary. Mike is aiming to make the announcement in mid March as to who the beneficiary will be.
