The regular meeting of the Nittany Valley Running Club was held on Tuesday, February 6 at the HiWay Pizza  on Westerly Parkway. There might have been a new record turnout in attendance: Jerry Steffy, Dave Eggler, Marty Mazur, Amy Paster, Mike Connelly, Bob, Christine, and Kellie Rice, Mark Fedkin, Tara Murray, Joe Bollinger, John and Tammy Domico, Stephen Ast, Duane Serpentine, Dave Felice, and Grace O'Keefe all showed up. There were many newcomers whose hearts were gladdened by the pizzas and pitchers that came around.

This month, the business end of the Club meeting was dispensed with quickly, if unsatisfactorily. Amy Paster discussed with Jerry and Marty the continued difficulties the Club has had with the Penn State Athletic Empire. We won't be able to use the Club House road on the golf course this year, necessitating another change in the Arts Fest Race. Marty and Jerry got down to a back-of-the-envelope redesign. Luckily, the Spikes will add some spice to this year's race: we'll probably feature their ball park in our course design. John Domico gave a plug and a plea for CVIM: a plug for the NVRC teams that will run the Boston Marathon to benefit CVIM, and a plea for more qualified runners to step up and run for the NVRC for this fine cause.

Much of the talk this evening was about the ever more successful Indoor Mile Series, which raps up this Friday in the MSF. What a great time the series has been, and a great boon for the Club. We've gotten numerous new memberships because of this great Series. Thanks extend to PSU Coach Beth Alford-Sullivan and her staff for letting us put on these races.

The rest of the evening was spent in some good conversation with the Club newcomers.  Grace even related her recipe for Maine Moose Jerky. But you'll have to come to the next meeting learn about that.
