Just wanted to give my Arts Fest kids race crew an XXL thank you for all their efforts on Sunday sweatin' it out in the trenches of Medlar Field with me!  Steve Gentry performed a major Medlar Miracle getting all 62 kids (and 200 parents/relatives/random bystanders) sorted into their age groups in the dugout area. My lovely belle of the ballfield Carol Gentry did a wonderful job giving directions at the start and sending them on their way with her carol of the bells (move over Tinkerbelle! :)  Deano "I ran 15 miles for warm-up" Capone and Mike Blake deserve the golden lasso award for keeping order and getting tags at the finish line. If anyone is looking for a few good kindergarten cops, these are your men.  Amy and Riley "straight out of Hollywood" Blake and anonymous niece (sorry for not getting her name!) were golden on medal distribution and were flinging bling right and left.  And my Gigantor hubbie Greg (remember, the camera adds 10-100 lbs ;) and son Duncan (Gigantor Jr.) were the coolest on popsicle duty (despite some issues with strategic cooler placement, which I was so kindly pointing out in Cheryl's picture...:)  Speaking of which, Cheryl not only captured the whole spectacle on camera, but also ended up in the thankless role of turf defender, continuously "redirecting" clueless parents who kept blundering their way onto the infield trying to get the perfect photo opp.

 

Oh, and can't forget the patron saint of the Arts Fest Races (and pretty much all our local races) Dave Eggler, who must have wanted to hit the 20 mile timing mark for the day so added the kids races to his clocking duties.  And captured those squirrely speedsters to the hundredth of a second!!!
