2004 Predicted Time Results
by Marty Mazur
A "predicted time" contest was held in the last race of the indoor mile
series. Marty Mazur had a series-long goal of sub-6:00 that he still
had not achieved at the start of race 3, so he predicted 5:59 and came
closest to his prediction (and also pretty close to not making his
goal!). Marty's prediction error of 0.43 seconds also broke Mike
Dooris's
record for closest predicted time, an error of 0.56 seconds set back in
2000. Erin Wyble's prediction was way off mostly because she decided to
run the 3000 meter run, and finished that race (in a very respectable
time)
just 10 minutes before the start of her mile heat.
