The fourth and final meet in the season's Indoor Mile Series had a couple of really exciting finishes. In the first heat, Rod Stahl made a comeback performance and took first place in 4:48.36. It was the fastest time of the year and, had Rod made a showing on one other week, he lwould have astrong contender for Series crown. Rod led from the start, then gave Karl Shellenberg the lead for a lap or two after the half. Andy Cunningham just tried to hang within striking distance. In the final lap, Rod put on a strong kick, as did Andy, who caught Karl on the final stretch to take second. Shellenberger's strong showing a couple of weeks ago gave him the men's Series crown. Fourth place went to Lance Bland, who also took the series Master's crown. The remaining runners in the heat all turned in their best times of the Series.

In the second heat, Morgan WIndram, feeling better after her cold of the last couple of weeks, dashed to an early lead and never looked back, taking the top spot in 5:44.76. Marty Mazur and Dan Gus ran together for 5 laps on a sub-6 pace, but Marty faded in lap 6. Dan took second in 5:54.51. Mazur was passed by Marty Klancher, who finally got his sub-6 to take second, and Erin Wyble, who ran a strong third in 6:01. Mazur was being chased down by Jerry Steffy, but held out for fourth. Steffy turned in his best time of the Series in the effort to catch Mazur. The rest of the runners in the heat also had strong races.
