2010 Nittany Valley Running Club Indoor Mile #2

OK. The cat's out of the bag. Top runners are coming out of the woodwork, and records are falling. The second Indoor Mile of the series saw the Women's event record fall for the second week in a row. And the men's master's record was crushed by an out-of-towner. Dave Rasmussen won the first heat and improved his time from last week by nearly 6 seconds. But that's because the Penn State law student was being chased by Bob McGinty of Lehigh Valley, who finished a half-second behind Rasmussen and smashed the Men's Masters record by 10 seconds. Andrew Viscusi was third. Among the women, Charlotte Lawson, late of the University of Pennsylvania, smashed Beth Herndon's Women's record, set just last week, by over 11 seconds. Lawson is capable of going sub-5, so we hope to see her try.  Herndon bettered her time of last week by 4 seconds, but will have to dig deeper in the weeks to come to regain her record. And former record holder Ann Skulas-Ray, making a comeback, was third. Many Club members ran PRs or seasons bests. Pat Singletary hopes to lower his time under 4:40 and ran 4:48 in his first attempt. Jeff Smucker flirted with sub-5. Meira Minard won the second heat, breaking 5:30.
