2nd Krush Speaker Series Talk - March 19

The second talk in the Krush Program Speaker Series will be held on Monday, March 19 at St. Joseph's Catholic Academy at 901 Boalsburg Pike in Boalsburg. Artie Gilkes and Olympic hopeful Rebecca Donaghue will give a talk titled Drills To Improve Running Economy. Information is here.

Superhuman Effort To Benefit Juvenile Diabletes Research Fund

Steve McAninch, who last year ran 30 hours to raise $30K for the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation, is about to embark on an even more superhuman endeavor. Between now and May 19, Steve plans to run 750 miles, with 130,000 feet elevation gain;  bicycle 1500 miles, and lift 1,000,000 pounds.  May 18 into 19, he will conclude his effort with a 100 mile run around the State College area. To kick off his fundraising, Steve is working with Chik-Fil-A to hold a Spirit Night on World Diabetes Day, Monday, November 14. On this day, Chik-Fil-A will donate 15% of all receipts from customers who hand in this ticket

Cherry Run Trail

Marty Mazur and his family recently hiked the Cherry Run Trail near Lamar, PA. The trail would also make a nice trail run, though challenging in spots. Here's a link to Marty's report on the trail.

The Girls on the Run international organization recently approved a Happy Valley chapter, as reported here a couple of months ago. The local chapter is now busy setting up shop. Here's the latest news.

2012 Indoor Mile Series Schedule Announced

The 2012 Indoor Mile Series will again feature 4 meets in January and February. Each meet will have heats of the mile. The last meet will also have a heat of the 3000 meter run. As usual, there will be a Predicted Time Contest for the mile at the last meet.

The Indoor Mile Series is open to all NVRC members except students high school age or younger (due to NCAA recruiting rules). The coming Series will be held on the newly resurfaced Multi-Sport Facility track. There will be new regulations regarding spikes, which will soon be posted on the Indoor Mile Series page. Representatives Of Girls On The Run To Be At Tussey mOUnTaiNBACK Expo

The Centre Region chapter of Girls on the Run will have a table promoting their new local chapter at The Ramada Inn Expo for the Tussey mOUnTaiNBACK on Saturday evening, and also at Tussey the mOUnTaiNBACK on Sunday.
