Board Meeting

Attendance: Dana Gingerich, Marty Mazur, Marty Klanchar, Cheryl Capone, John Wilcock, Tara Murray, Amy Blake

Cheryl is working with Jody Whipple on a nutrition seminar for club members. The cost would be $250 and the club would subsidize the cost so the fee would be $5 for members. This is a topic that members frequently request on the membership application.

The Wilderness First Aid series we are sponsoring, to be held at Appalachian Outdoors, will begin April 22.

Dana proposed holding a benefit concert at the Spikes' stadium to raise funds to help make up for the loss of sponsorship for the Arts Fest races. Proceeds from the concert will go to a youth running fund. Dana will also look for a new sponsor.

The NVRC usually sponsors the Mountainback for $500 but it is not a club race. This may need to be reevaluated in light of the sponsorship loss.

We do not have a race director for the Knights of Columbus 5K.

The officers approved sponsoring runners from State College High School at a national track meet.

Dana could use additional course marshals for the Boalsburg Memorial Day race.

Club Meeting

The club is looking for a race director for the Knights of Columbus 5K.

We have lost our sponsor for the Arts Fest races and are looking for ways to fill the gap. Proceeds from the Arts Fest races fund youth running activities.

The Self Defense for Runners workshop has been rescheduled to June 5, 6-8 pm.

The club is sponsoring a series of four talks on Wilderness First Aid at Appalachian Outdoors.

Amy received an email about energy coaching. If you are interested in a free seminar, let her know.

The third Mt. Nittany Marathon, benefitting the Mt. Nittany Conservancy, will be held the Sunday of Labor Day weekend, Sept. 6. The marathon will start at 7am and a new 5K, with the same start and finish line, will start at 9am. Organizers hope this will bring more spectators to the finish area. The early registration fee ($60) is good until May 31. Race director John Hook asked for feedback on the tagline "Toughest Little Marathon in the East" and people in attendance liked it.

Mark Fedkin requested a higher sponsorship amount for the Nittany Track & Field youth club this year due to higher track use fees. NTF will host a USATF sanctioned meet this year on June 6 and is looking for volunteers. Email Mark or Tony Kwasnica if you are interested.
