Despite the impending Frankenstorm, the rain and wind held off and Daniel Craighead and Matt Herring battled it out over the hills of the 3rd annual Give 'Em 5! Run for Veterans. Craighead finally got the win in 26:35, with Herring only 2 seconds behind. Both were well under the course record set last year by Andy Cunningham. Jodie Villegas was first among women.

Alex Becker was the first male veteran, and Joyce Robley of Hastings was the first female veteran.

Foster Sayers, son of Medal of Honor winner Foster Joseph Sayers, gave the runners their starting commands.

Following the race, runners and walkers enjoyed the usual bagels and fruit, as well as hot dogs and soup served up by Boy Scouts. Thanks to our sponsors, many participants got door prizes, and top overall, veteran, and age group runners got special prizes.

Together, we raised more than $10,000 to help local veterans in need through the Veterans Assistance Fund.
